Living In Cape Harbour

I was blessed with the opportunity to call Cape Harbour home for a few months. It is the most friendly community. I am staying in the condos at the marina. Downstairs beneath the apartment is the most adorable shops and restaurants. The art, clothing, and gift shops are charming. The sound of laughter and music that fills the air is joyful. It just makes me happy when I walk the paths of Cape Harbour.

One of my daughter’s favorite shops to visit is The French Press. This coffee shop is much more than coffee. They have so many unique flavors of gelato and many other treats to enjoy. The atmosphere of the shop is so relaxing and inviting. She also loves that they offer books to sit and read while you enjoy the views of the marina.

There are three restaurants downstairs, and all are delicious. Each restaurant has its own vibe and character, with each being enjoyable and delightful.

Rumrunners, positioned on the opposite side of the marina, is divine. We enjoy sitting out on the back patio to eat while watching the boats headed in and out for the day.

Cape Harbour Oyster Bar and Grill is at the west end of the shops. Each time I walk in, they are so welcoming and friendly. The bartenders are great and quick to get your order. I love eating there around sunset. You can enjoy your meal on the patio out back and watch the sunset over the marina.

I would have to say my favorite restaurant is Fathoms Restaurant and Bar. They are located right in the middle of the shops at Cape Harbour. I have enjoyed both the inside and outside dining options. The food is delicious. They host musicians and bands at the outdoor bar and restaurant area on different nights of the week. I love going down in the evenings and listening to various bands. One of my favorite parts about the bands is also to people watch. I have been here going on three weeks, and it is so much fun to watch the families, the couples, and those who just want to get out and be social. There is this one couple that I love to watch when the bands are playing because they dance almost the entire time. If anyone knows me, they know I love to dance. They are just the cutest carefree couple, and I love it.

I am trying really hard to break out of my shell and introduce myself to people and spark conversations, but so far, most of those have started by others coming up to me first or their dogs running over to me for attention. I am trying to work on this part.

The Sunday Farmers Market is a fantastic event to walk down and enjoy. I do not typically have cash on me, but I happened to have twenty dollars on me this past Sunday. I came back to the apartment with homemade soap, fresh guacamole, and all the vegetables I needed for the week. There was also a musician playing music, which added to the energetic atmosphere. I really cannot find the words to describe the events that happen in this community. They just make me feel so alive. I always walk around with this stupid smile on my face. I am sure everyone here thinks I am crazy, but it is such a magical place.

Another aspect of living in Cape Harbour that has been amazing is that I am only a few blocks from a Publix. Now for this girl from Morriston who had to drive into Ocala, Dunnellon, or Gainesville (45 minutes) to go to Publix, this is a huge bonus. Going to the grocery store takes no time at all here. To some, that might seem silly, but to me, it is enormous.

I know I have only been in the area for a short time, but I love it so far. If you are looking for somewhere to vacation or for your forever place to settle down and enjoy life, I recommend Cape Harbour in Cape Coral, Florida.
