Getting Healthy in the Cape
I never saw myself moving from the sandhills of Morriston to an adorable little coastal town. The reality is here and, I could not be more excited to explore Cape Coral.
I am staying in an apartment in Cape Harbour on the 14th floor. If you follow me on Instagram @amanda_lynette_ you have probably seen all of my sunrise and sunset photos. I might be obsessed.
The locals tell us that the season truly starts in October, but so far, I love the vibe that this community is portraying.
One thing I promised myself that would happen during this move is that I would get back to taking care of myself. There is genuinely no excuse I can use to not do that here. I have the option to layout my yoga matt on the patio and recharge, take a beautiful walk with sidewalks and walkways everywhere, “that is so different from the dirt roads at home.” I have been looking into many exercise groups that meet in the parks a few times a week. Then the one I have been doing the most is walking to the gym, doing an intense workout, and slowly incorporating weights then walking back. I am sure there are many more ways to exercise around here and I will search to find them.
Who knew that exercising and eating right could make you feel better. Ok Ok, I did know that I just thought it was so much work. Anything you do in life is hard. Suppose you sit around and watch t.v. And eat whatever you want and gain lots of weight. It’s hard because you start to feel insecure and self-conscious. I say this from experience. After a while, you find your clothes do not fit the same and in my case, I found myself getting depressed.
The question to ask yourself is, what goal am I working toward? What will make ME HAPPY?
For me, I know that I am a happier person when I am eating right (I follow the SlimFast Keto Plan) and exercising. I follow up regularly with my doctor and adjust things as she recommends. They say endorphins make you happy, and I definitely believe that.
I am very excited to keep you encouraged to exercise and eat healthy as I discover this new and charming town. Keep checking back to see what I have been doing to stay active in Cape Coral.
