A Talk In The Park

A timid girl was sitting on a park bench, lost in thought, when a man came to sit beside her.

He looked at the girl and asked, “Dear girl, why are you so troubled?”

The girl looked at him with a lost look and a bit of hesitation, but then she opened her heart.

She said, “I feel so unworthy of true love and affection. I do not feel as though I deserve to be truly loved with no strings attached. I always allow people in my life to manipulate me and talk me into doing things I am hesitant to do. But because I trust these people, I follow along. In my heart, I know something is not right. I can feel that the path I am going down is not healthy, but I keep going. I am not capable of truly speaking up for myself. I want to say I need this to happen, or I am taking a different path, but instead, my fear takes over, and Igo with the flow. I definitely do not want to challenge a situation or truly speak up as to what I want. I am just so lost and feel so alone and helpless.”

The girl hung her head in shame and just stared at the ground. She was so embarrassed at what she just shared with this stranger. Why did she feel led to share with him?

He asked her to look at him.

She did.

What he said next changed her life forever.

He said, “You are enough and worthy of great things. I know bad things happened to you, and that has created such insecurity within you. But I am telling you that you will rise above those feelings. You will overcome this chapter, and You will find your voice. Now hold your head high. No more doubting who you are or why you are on this earth. As for men, you must stand for what you want while finding a balance of give and take. You know deep inside you that you are meant to overcome and share!!!! Now stand tall and go do!!! I have given you the strength to do just that!”

The man stood and walked away. The girl looked around to see if anyone else witnessed what just happened, but no one was around. She turned back quickly, and the man was gone. He was nowhere to be seen.

That timid girl stood, straightened her shoulders, and walked confidently out of the park! It was time she listened to what God had been trying to tell her.
